About Us
Illoco Teatro is an under-35 company founded in Rome in 2011 by Annarita Colucci and Roberto Andolfi, leading a group of actors who graduated from the International Academy of Theatre in Rome (formerly Circo a vapore), a school founded as a direct descendant of the theatrical pedagogy of Jacques Lecoq at the École internationale de théâtre in Paris. From this living tradition, the company especially draws on the idea of a popular art theatre accessible to all. As for stage languages, we cultivate certain specific aspects of the Lecoqian theatrical universe, such as attention to gesture, stage movement, universal signs, and collective creation.
The company carries out research, production, and theatrical promotion activities through performances for adults and children, workshops, and political-cultural activism.
